Installing TS3 The Ambitions EP – Need Help

Well here’s where I’m at. A month ago I bought my sister a new laptop and got her a copy of The Sims 3 since she is a huge fan. Shes been loving it since, but now she wants an EP, so I went out and got the Ambitions EP from Toothless since that’s where I got the original from also.

After downloading The EP I went to install and was told that TS3 needed to update and wanted to use the EADM. Wasn’t about to do that, so I tried to follow a few of his links to get an offline patch for it. First off, I don’t even know which patch to download. Second, I downloaded one that was for a US retail 1.0.6 to 1.6.x and was expecting an exe. Nope, and I have no idea what to do with it. I am pretty much a noob in the gaming department, since I mostly stick to apps and portable games. If someone could help that would be much appreciated.
TL;DR – I need help installing The Sims 3 Ambitions EP, but I don’t know where to start. I have the EP downloaded, but I still need to update TS3 and crack the EP.

Anyone got any ideas on what I should do? I’ve been thinking of doing a fresh install and updating before I crack, but idk if that will work so some feedback would be nice
