Installing a game & playing a game at the same time
July 25th, 2016
What’s the best “thing” to do ?
Will I set a specific CPU Affinity to both ?
Or maybe set one process lower than normal ?
I wanna play a game, when another is installing …
(But I don’t wanna crash the installation program)
I’ve got 8 cores so, … ?
I don’t see an issue here..Get to game to start installing an go and play your other game..
I was just playing Borderlands, while installing another black box game.
The black box installation did crash. I guess, it was because of doing both together.
I wanna find a solution, so can do both at the same time.
Edit: I will try to set some CPU affinities and see if it goes ….
Sometimes you just can’t do it depending on the game(s).
Installers will often write over existing system files that it needs, causing access conflicts between what you are playing and what is being installed.
Really though, how often are doing both at the same time?
Ok, thanks for the info. But I’m still gonna try.
Depends on how many good new games are comming. Like this month And it will happen also more I guess, due installing a game lately, takes more and more time (more gigs)
Yes and no question. Some game work great while letting other things like installation run in the background. Some installation work great while letting you do other things like playing games.
Not all game support it and not all installer support it. one of the main reason is already said by . I dont think you should. Maybe it could missed an file or corrupt an file while you were playing the games. It also slow down your gameplay. How much is depending on your pc spec. Get an ssd and you wont have to worry about install time
I’ve got also SSD’s in my I7 PC.
8 cores, should be enough to do both,
and indeed, ….. I’ve got right, …
set some CPU affinities. So it seems I’ve fixed it all by myself again.
Thx for the replies anyway ………
