In need of a XBOX guru

Ok so how to start this off. My friend soft modded his xbox after seeing me mod mine. In the process when he tried to backup his c drive it gave an error and i dont think it did it as when i try ed to ftp into his box it had no backups at all. At this point the drive stoped reading disks . The softmod he used was UnleashX and in that dashboard they have a formatting option. Well long story short he formatted all the drives and rebooted his xbox sadly to come to a screen with it says basically that he needed to call support and the xbox botton flashes what looks like reg and green . After wondering for many days iv seen this allot but in most cases there is an error number where in this case there was none. So basically he has a xbox that loads the logo then goes to the support error in all the diffrent languages. He and i have tried using xboxhdm to gain access to the box with no luck it just says it cant find any disk and to please reboot and connect a disk . He has no copy of his eeprom so we arnt really sure how to go about unlocking the drive so that we can once again softmod it up. I hope all that made sense been a long day playing with this thing and my mind is frying out lol . If anyone has any ideas or incite on this situation please give feedback .

that error u mention is usally when the hd isnt connected i think.when i did mine i put it all back together turned it on and got that msg id forgot to plug hd or it may bave been the drive back in check the connections

Yes i got the same error on mine when i first modded but as for this xbox i have checked all the connections and all seem to be connected. I have also tried the Unleash Boot CD and the Slayer EvoX Auto cd with no luck.

You’re warranty is void, and the xbox is fried, sorry.

lol the warranty on it died along time ago that i already knew but iv heard in many cases installing a new HDD+Mod chip seems to solve this issue and with there being nothing wrong with the mobo and dvd drive i have some hope i just need to figure out a way to get the drive unlocked it boots fine it just doesnt have anything to boot to

You can hotswap the HD (might take a few tries). Then install the softmod from windows using an XBOX HD viewer (the best one for the 360 also works for the XBOX 1). Hope this helps.

If he did format the drive and you haven’t got a copy of the eeprom, then your only option is to get a modchip for it. Hotswapping the drive won’t work because it won’t be unlocked (doesn’t boot up enough to unlock it).
Just to be clear you can’t FTP into it and you can’t run any original games either right?
Im not quite sure but I think that even after you get the modchip you will still have to get a new HDD for it as well because your old one will be locked tho the chip and a boot CD might get around that.

ty all for all the impute . and after talking o many ppl in many places i think i have finaly come to the conclusion that a mod chip is going to be the only way to gain axx to the hdd again. If anyone happens to be in US and have bought a chip befor if you could pm me to mabey talk in more detail about where you got yours and also if anyone has any recommendations on a good chip im very open to suggestions and yes you are correct i can NOT FTP or get game to start and i think with the modchip/programming i can get axx to the hdd (at least hope )

im in the uk so no idea where to get in us but the chip ive installed on numerous boxes is the Xecuter 2.6 CE Mod Chip & Xapter completly solderless and a brezze to install

What are you talking about. Hot swapping does unlock the HD, I’ve done it countless times to fix my mates xboxes when they delete everything (I mean everthing on the HD not just the XBMC folder) trying to upgrade XBMC.

Hotswapping doesn’t unlock the HDD. The xbox itself unlocks the HDD then you can hotswap it to remove the pass or rebuild the drive.
The only times when the HDD is unlocked is when errors 11, 12, 13, 16, & error 21 are displayed as well as on the dash and in gameplay.
Seeing as there is no error shown I doubt that it would unlock but I could be wrong.

Sorry rereading that it does sound a bit harsh. Not my intention mate, but yes thats the whole point of hot swapping. The xbox unlocks it then you swap IDE cables (a bit dangerous but if timed right does work).
