if i find Win7 64bit slow, should i go back to xp?

August 4th, 2016

i bought this new computer with a Phenom II 955 black CPU and installed win7 64bit, but after a month or so i am somewhat disappointed, bcoz i am still encountering situations where the system loading time is much slower than i would like, situations where after clicking a button i was expecting an instant reaction, instead, i have to wait 5,10 seconds for it.
i had the impression that a system which can handle all the latest game on high graphics, such as mine, will be extremely fast during normal windows operations…
am i wrong?
so, would i get more speed out of the system if i install xp instead?
could this slow speed be due to the fact that i only have a single 2GB ram?
rather than a 2x1GB ram, or even 4GB ram?

Yes, you probably would notice a speed increase if you went back to XP. I think Windows 7 has a higher RAM requirement then XP.

Thats funny, I changed from Xp to windows 7 64 bit yesterday and im noticing a HUGE increase in system performance. I’d say to get another 2gb of ram in there to make it run smooth because as said, windows 7 has a higher RAM requirement then xp.

I second this .

More RAM is always good. It could be you are running things that are slowing you down. You dont mention what stuff you have running, keep things to a minimum of 25-40 processes running. If you run more than that it can slow you down.
If your computer can handle XP then do a dual boot see if it makes a difference.
