I think my computer got infected.

August 4th, 2016

Hi,
I need your help figuring out what did I just install and how do I remove it ??
Story:
I downloaded Metal Gear from here:
https://www..org/viewtopic.php?t=22277322&start=0
and when I downloaded the crack first time it automatically deleted a file.
So I downloaded it again, while disabling the anti virus.
I unzipped the file, and an “exe” file came out. So I had an idiotic moment, I thought maybe it copies the file to the destination folder, but now I see it didn’t do anything. so I immediately delete the file and it’s rar. 5 minutes later, I see the original crack file with the files inside it. What was that file that I deleted a moment ago?? How did it come to my computer?? and how the hell I can make sure it doesn’t effect my computer??
The only thing I know about the file is this (first file):

I already ran a smart security scan and windows defender scan, but nothing on their radar. Should I format my computer??

Its a false positive. Meaning the way the crack acts to make the game free for you can be seen as a virus, but aint really.. Im unsure, what you did to make it reaper though.. You will have to disable your virus and set your virus checker to ignore it.

No you missed the point.
What is this exe file ?? how can I know what it did to my computer ?? Because apparently it wasn’t the crack file I downloaded …

If you deleted it…What’s the problem then..
You should posted in the topic you downloaded from instead of here…
That way the uploader gets the chance to explain..

I deleted the exe file and it’s zip file after it installed it’s contents.
Later it seemed that the file I unzipped it’s not the one I downloaded from the topic above.

It doesnt seem to be crack you got from that topic, after checking for you. (soz for misunderstanding originally.)
Should have refreshed after checking.. Good you found that.
Answer #6
What do you think I should do ?
Answer #7
Nothing..
If the file was infected..It wouldn’t be just a matter of hitting the delete key..
If it was..You delete it and it will replace itself..Or maybe won’t be able to delete it at all..
Answer #8
In the meantime going to do a system restore hopefully if there was any virus it will be gone.
Answer #9
Good idea. that should do the trick!
Answer #10
it is very unlikely that we can know what file was that maybe you downloaded another crack from someone else previously and you dont remember it. i havent tried 3dm release of metal gear but it is also very unlikely that cracks add themselves to taskbar like the screenshot of yours. it is also very unlikely any malware add itself to taskbar to say “hey i m here” so it is weird situation.
run also a scan with malwarebytes , if you mean eset scanner with “smart security scan” both of those would be enough. for the rest , you look for unusual start up entries , scheduled tasks and services manually.
