i am looking for a way to run and play commandos series in window mode

i bought the commandos series from steam and my monitor resulution is way to high to play this games at full screen.
my monitor is 42″ 4K so you guys can imagine how bad this games looks at full screen in my setup.
what i need is a way to run and play it in window mode, windows 10 can “split” 4 aplications on the screen (in my case thats like 4×20.5″ monitors in fhd res) so if i can play this in window mode that i can control its size and actually play in it this whould be the best solution for me.
hope someone have a solution for me.

tried, found program named: “DxWnd” and it was a waste of time. in this game this program doesn’t do the trick.
also saw in google some mods\paches\hacks to edit the game resulutions to higher one’s but all I found was not stable and full of bugs so I need to stick with the window solution that’s to me sound easier to execute but for some reason I am not found a way to do that..
any ideas?
I usually either alt+enter during the game, edit the .ini file in C:/Program Files/”Game” or ..user/My documents, or add -windowed to the shortcut. I’ve never used W10 or steam, so these may be useless. There’s tons of guides online..

I can’t find the ini file in this games. there is a different type of file in there that seem to do whats the ini do. anyway edit the ini (or this different file in my case) not good in this games because all the paches\hacks\mods I found in the web try to do this and they all buged or crush. so back to window mode,
I see there is a ton of different program to do this trick but the 3 programs I tried cant do it with this games.. so I wonder if anyone know a program that can run this games in window mod. that will save me time instead try in blind every program out there.
Those games are very old, I think even old enough to run in DOS. Because of this search for a dos box of a description, they generally run in windows, so the game will be in a window.

(I may be incorrect, maybe the games came out with say win 95 or something, but this may work, worth a try..)
this is an interesting tool.
downloaded it, and now I am trying to navigate to the exe commandos file (not easy for me because it seems like a tool for advanced users but I enjoy the process of learning so its fine).
I will back if its work or not.

Quickest way is /dir and it will show all the folders and files in the folder.. Then type the next one in and it will jump to it rince and repeat.. Not a program for advance users, but the most used operating system before windows and apple became mainstream lol..
Edit: also maybe start with the first one of the series and then test the other two.. Older =s more likely to work with it..
tried the oldest one “commandos: behind enemy lines” and it said: “this program cannot be run in dos mode”.
I don’t know if it because steam has a different version that has changes to run in this day pc’s and because of that it didn’t run, or it just cant run in this dos box.
there is something else I should try with this dosbox? or go back and try random programs that force window mode?

edit: also did a little bit of further digging for you, and im pretty sure those games just cant be run in a window mode. Unless you got a program like dos box, but window box lol (dont think they exist..)…
my solution for now is to sit 4 meters from the monitor, not fun..

Commandos cannot be run into dos. Can’t you reduce the screen resolution if all else fails?
I can reduce the screen resolution but to look on 42 inch in 1080P (or lower) from a 3 foot distance is bad to my taste. I prefer go 12-16 foot back instead.
I thought of another idea, but don’t know if it can do what I want because I have no experience in this at all.
what if I install a virtual machine in my pc that’s will run windows and steam, can it run in window mode on top of my desktop? and if it can run in window mode it will stay in window mode even when I lunch a game?

but if it interesting someone, installing oracle virtual box did the trick.
at first the game was crush after the intro video but after changing the resolution in windows to 1280X1024 that crush was gone and I was able to play the first level free of bugs\crashes.
that’s the only problem I run into the hall process.
so this thing is solved for me.
