HP Charger problem

Hi
my Hp charger is not working properly. i cannot able to charge my computer when it is turned on. But battery is charging when it is turned off.
when i tried to run laptop when it is connected to power (removing battery from the laptop) it runs untill windows login screen and shutting down.
Anyone know why this is happening ?
P.S i think port that takes in the power cord is the problem

So you are able to charge it while it is powered off, but not when it’s powered on? Sounds like it’s a hardware issue.

1st page, post by anacreo all the way at the bottom seems to have solved the problem.

Yeah, I’ve seen a few instances of this at worn as well. That should fix the problem.

the lappy just shuts off, or windows shuts down ?
the charging lite is on when you power it up but goes off at the login screen when you have the battery in ?

never heard of an OS shutting off the power, but that sounds like what’s happening
you have any bootable CD or DVD to see if the charger stays on when booting from it
