How to download large files?
August 7th, 2013
I’ve been trying to download a 4.4GB file for a few days now and everytime, at the end of the 15 hours download, I get a message telling me that the download has failed So I wanted to know whether there are any programs out there that would enhance large file downloads, or any tips to avoid further failure on my side
Your helps would be greatly appreciated! (and sorry if my question sounds really noob ><) Thanks a bunch!
your HDD partition NTFS or FAT 32?
I think |Leader| was going to tell you that FAT32 will only support filesizes up to 4GB.
You must have a very slow download speed connection that is an awfully long time these days, eg. that would take about 30 mins on my home connection (23 meg), or it’s a very slow server.
The first question is – are you using a download manager or direct through your browser ?
Second, if from a filehost, is it from a Premium account ?
If using a Premium a/c, use a download manager.
If you are a free user try jdownloader, I may be wrong, but I think that will resume certain free filehosts – dunno for sure though I tend to avoid the ones I don’t have premium logins for.
My partition is FAT32. I am directly downloading from my browser. It’s actually a file that a friend as uploaded, but I can’t seem to download it
Fat32 does not support files that are larger than 4 GB…You need to convert to ntfs…

yes my guess was right. FAT32 not supported larger than 4GB Single file. HDD drive format in NTFS. then you able to download larger than 4GB file.
