How to customize a boot menu
July 23rd, 2013
I finally had success and have installed windows xp, window 7, linux mint 12 cinnamon, and linux pingeee.
Its fine, but my boot menu is a bit of a mess, lots of linux options for fixing and scannign and this and that.
Is there any software that would allow me to make a nice boot menui consisting of just the four OS’s i have??
Thanks
If your using grub (bootloader) just edit menu.lst to fit your needs.
On a sidenote., Don’t you think that 4 OS’s are a bit too much?
Thanks, I’m not sure how to edit the list, but will look into it.
And is 4 a bit much?
I’ve no idea.
Does it affect performance at all? I did as neat an install as possible.
I wanted xp and 7, and also wanted to try a linux.. I am kind of torn between mint and pingee at the moment, so have them both on for now at least.

Not really. It’s just not very practical, It’s not like your gonna switch between all 4 thru
the day, You should pick one and stick with it, Or if you actually have valid reasons to use both
Windows & Linux, Use one of each (2 OS’s total)

Next time you wanna try an OS, Save yourself the hassle and just install it on a virtual machine, Use VMWare Workstation or VirtualBox for this task.
hm lol
I like it.
Tho, i think a virtual machine on my netbook would put it tio too much strain.
I found a cool looking grub edit programme on utube, i will try it out.

A boot menu with just the four OS’s on a list, with a nice background picture sounds great.
Cheers

It sounds like you need some of the real hard stuff
Only 4? lmao I have 7 I must be an OSoholic.
EasyBCD works very well for multi boot systems and it’s free.
