you dont burn the disk on a blu ray. you use an external hard disk to play it.
but you need a lot more than just that.
– first you will need a playstation that can be “jailbroken”, either by a usb dongle like “psjailbreak” or by installing a custom firmware. Anything past firmware 3.55 will not work as far as i know
– second you gotta understand that you wont be able to connect to PSN or play online anymore.
– third you will need a backup manager program (you install it on your ps3) to be able to access the games on your external disk
i definitely dont suggest updating to 3.60, cause thats 100% that it cant be jailbroken yet.
I doubt it will even get jailbroken, since Sony is on a hunt for all the hackers involved with the ps3 and doing a pretty good job at it too.
Finally remember that all of this is done at the risk of sony banning your ps3 and your psn account from their network

My god , way to be useless. The guy’s not asking about external hard drives, he’s asking about burning backups onto BD-Rs. Every single forum concerning backups just mentions external hard drives and nothing else, it seems that I’m the only person in the world who sees the advantage of having the games on discs. I myself have a blu-ray burner, and discs, so I’m really interested to see if this can work. In theory, the backup managers (multiman, gaia, and rogero) SHOULD be able to read the games from discs just as well as they do from a hard drive, but I’m not sure exactly how the files are supposed to be arranged. I see the games here are in some sort of BLES folders, rather than isos. I don’t have an external hard drive, nor do I want to waste my discs, but I’ll give test it eventually and see if it works.

^^ yeah true he was asking how but it was probably to play the games like people do here. and it seemed like he didnt know much about it so he told him … dont see the harm in that

randomaccount but gaia manager and openmanager dont support booting off of BD-R’s just int/ext hdd….and its a great route to go…but most backup games work by having a real disk in the drive so how could a bootleg work

It’s impossible to play downloaded PS3 games on DISC, you need a external drive.
There is no way around it, doubt there is be anyway to play burnt DISC games on PS3, if there were a method it would have surfaced by now.
I thought the first poster too this guys question was suffice

All the Blu-Ray discs for PS3 games are encrypted with a certain key, this key is embedded within the PS3 and the PS3 will ONLY play the Blu-Ray game if the Blu-Ray disc is encrypted with the encryption key.
