HIS HD 4650 AGP Series Heatsink?

August 24th, 2013

Hey everyone I have a question about my graphics card I bought a couple years back the fan finially crapped out on me and I need to replace the fan but I am not sure if this one will work that I found. Can anyone verify if this fan by Zalman will work on my card or not?
My graphics card its the old AGP Series: (http://www.hisdigital.com/us/product2-480.shtm)
Zalman fan I was thinking about buying: (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118072)
Thanks, hopefully someone will know.

What do you mean arctic cooling accelero l2 plus or l2 pro? have me a little lost on what you meant, I mean I know what Arctic thermal paste is but not that.
*edit* I googled it. not quite sure if it will fit on my card or not lolz. is this one better then Zalman?
Answer #3
it looks like it will work
just double check the dimensions against you existing fan and that the card is big enough to set the heat sync on
zalman vga fan specs
Physical Spec
Fan Dimensions
80 x 80 x 15 mm
Heatsink Dimensions
150 x 85 x 31 mm
also the zalman vga fan has a 3 pin connector in the pictures at newegg
but the specs say
Power Connector
4 Pin
i guess they are referring to the power adaptor that comes with the fan
knock out those details and you are in business

Okay so I have to ask. Are you saying the Zalman Heatsink will work with my card? just a little confused because of what the other person said about getting the other one called Arctic Accelero L2 Plus. Which Do you guys think I should get? I mean in my opinion I usually go by the best reviews and whats higher in RPM’s and has less fan noise if that makes any sense.

I only answered your question about the zalman.
Artic is also very good but I only researched what you posted

Alrighty thats fine with me Just out of curious, do you think the fan/heatsink will fit on my card? I tried to google it but couldn’t find anything to help what I was looking for.
*edit* like the Fan Dimensions and Heatsink Dimensions is what I was trying to find see if it will fit on the card if that makes sense.

i found the heat sync / fan specs on newegg under details
to find out if it fits :
that is best measured by you since you have the card in hand. start with the heat synch
the fan is in the middle so measure out the 6 inches down the length of the card. the fan center will be at 3.
the fan will cover 3 inches from that point 1.5 in either direction. make sure that is where your chip is so it is cooled properly
last thing to check would be the height install the card and measure how much room you have above the fan 1 inch or better is preferred so the air can move
inch measurements
fan
3.1 x 3.1 x .5
heat sync
5.9 x 3.4 x 1.25
metric measurements
Fan Dimensions
80 x 80 x 15 mm
Heatsink Dimensions
150 x 85 x 31 mm

Alrighty I measured my graphics card the length of the card and its about 6 inches in length. the heatsink is about 3 inches in length, the height of the heatsink is about a inch long.

it would seem the zalman is to big unless you let the heat sync hang off the end.
see if you can find a vga cooler with a 40 mm fan instead of an 80mm

Alrighty, I will see what I can do. With my old graphics card I use to have a Nvida MSI NX6600GT I had a Zalman heatsink on it and it hung off the edge of the card just made the card heavy took up 2 pci slots. I probably should get my buddie to measure my card I’m pretty bad at measuring I could be saying it completely wrong lolz. I’ll have my friend check it out and I’ll edit my post here in a couple minutes.

Those Arctic Cooling coolers perform better than your average Zalman heatsink and quiet as well.
You’d be sure that Arctic Cooling is damn confident that their coolers will work with the listed video cards.
They have a website.
The Zalman cooler is fairly old and has barely any reviews at all.
I never really liked Zalman’s GPU cooler performance.
There are lots of other brands that perform just as quiet and often better than that one.

Are you sure the card is stuffed…Sometimes they just get stiff and can be lubricated..

It may also be possible to find a fan that will fit the original heatsink..

I just replaced my HD3650 fan with a cut down case fan and it works fine, just chopped the frame to size and superglued it to the cooler..

Thats actually a really good idea I actually forgot you could oil any kind of ball bearing on any fan really. I’ll have to see if I can take off the sticker on my fan and see if I can oil it. it does move, its not really all that stiff so not sure on that one I can give it a oil try though later when everyone is awake lolz. Thanks for that one bud I seriously forgot about that lolz.
