Help with MS Certificate

March 25th, 2014

I’m applying to .Net Web Apps Microsoft Certificate. I’m not gonna attend classes, I’m gonna study home and just buy the exams.
I have already bought the following Lynda’s tutorials:
– Lynda.com – Visual Studio 2010 Essential Training
– Lynda.com ASP.NET
– Lynda.com SQL Server 2008
My question is did I miss something else at Lynda? Something of great importance to that course?
What book would you recommend me to get to help me more understand what I’m dealing with.
I forgot to mention that I come from a php/mysql background and MS programming is new to me.
One last question, do you have any tip regarding the exams from microsoft?

Answer #1
I can answer about the Microsoft exams, They are often lengthy so read carefully. Also from my experience they will ask questions that is the best practice.
So it is what they consider to be the best practice not necessary what you would do in real life.
Right now for preparing for exams, It is best to use Microsoft released exam prep materials. Such as there text books and they are up to date.
For preparing for the exam questions there are plenty of brain-dump sites, scour these and look for anything with good reviews. Rely on these not for brain dumping the answers but for targeting what you need help with. Good luck and hope Ive been of some assistance.
