Hi ,
I once had the same problem being a guitarist wanting to record.
I chose Ableton Live, you can get version 8.1 already in this forum. You will also find video tutorials which explain in depth how to use this software. Just search and invest some time, because that is what you will need in the beginning until you understand how the recording software works and how you can get the results you want.
You will also need a good audio driver for recording. If you do not have ASIO yet with one of your devices I would recomment to get asio4all. This is a ASIO driver freeware which is good.
In the end: There are several good DAWs for recording, Ableton Live is only one, but it was my choice then. There is also Cubase, Logic etc. You will have to find out which one suits you best.
Best wishes for your project,
Axe
