Help! Webcam Problem!

August 23rd, 2013

Hi, when I go to use my webcam online MSN tells me that.
"We cannot connect to your webcam. Your webcam may be in use by another program. Please check it and try again"
BUT It has no problem working in the preview window for seting up the cam within MSN or an online java camera utility.
www.testmycam.com/
Whats stopping the programs from going online with it and that doesnt seem to apply to testmycam.com?
Also while im at it, if there is some sort of work you know of please mention it. A way to forward the working java feed to msn?
Thanks for any help in advance, I will get back to this thread asap!

This error is usually due to driver issues, check to see if you have any driver updates for your webcam. Also install the latest version of MSN. If you already have the latest version, uninstall and see if your webcam works fine with some older versions, this may be a program fault.

I think im going to have to agree with you, unfortunately there are no newer driver updates and im on the latest version of MSN. Problem would probably be solved easiest if i just get a new webcam. Thanks for your help! It was still good advice!
Answer #3
What is the specific make/model of the webcam, maybe there is further info to be gleamed via Google ?

Your divers might have corrupted.
Have you attempted a full uninstall of the webcam drivers, followed by a cache and registry cleaner?
Then restart your PC and install a fresh copy of the webcam drivers from the manufacture site (not the default windows drivers).

I have, iv even gone as far to to a total reinstall of Windows 7.
There’s no make and model on the cam itself and e-buyer annoyingly just calls it a Webcam, also has no information for driver support.. Inspecting the device in device manager gives no extra info on the make or model or on the problem, apparently its working fine ha! xD
Iv used a program called Driver Genius, its been really good for getting updates on any out of date drivers i had – this too does not give any solutions.

I suggest you buy a new webcam,Preferably of a reputable brand (I.E Microsoft,Logitech)
Answer #7
Yep! I totally agree with you. Thanks for everyone’s help
