Help sorting a virus out

September 7th, 2013

So i was browsing the internet and AVG popped up saying it caught ‘Windows 7 Security 2012’ and got rid of it. But it looks like the vrius did some damage before AVG caught it as now i am unable to open any exe files.
Everytime i try to open one i just get the dialog box pop up that says ‘open with’. CMD.exe now doesnt exist as well. Is there anyway i can fix this or should i just backup files and clean install?

Answer #1
have you tried using system restore? … start/programmes/accessories/system restore.. send it back to a date before you had a problem…. if windows struggles try doing it in safe mode.. on boot press the F8 key and go to safe mode..access system restore same way ..
Answer #2
Download the latest virus deinitions for your AV and install them. Download and install Malwarebytes, and let it update.
Disable your system restore points.
Boot into safe mode (tap F8 on boot) and do a full scan with your AV, then a full scan with Malwarebytes.
Should be safe to go then.
If all seems well, re-enable system restore, and create a restore point, which should be malware free.
Answer #3
Try With System Restore to a day before your computer get harmed..

When ever someone says they use Avg. Don’t then them to update it because avg rubbish. Instead tell them to uninstall avg and install better anti virus called “free avast” or “free avira”
Everything else you wrote is spot on
