HELP! networking problem setting up a LAN

August 6th, 2016

I just brought a Cisco Catalyst 1900 series ( 24 port ethernet switch / hub). The problem is when I plugin all of the ethernet cables including the ethernet cable for internet I get limited or no connectivity and no internet. I dont know how to fix it. There is a port at the back called console which is plugged from the switch into my PC. I also have a ethernet cable comming from my PC to the front ports. It is a 24 port switch.
I have a little 5 port switch which works perfectly i just plugged everything in and it worked perfectly. Just with the 24 port it doesnt seem to work.
I need to get it fixed before tomorrow because Im hosting a LAN at my house

I think a 24 port cisco switch is a little more complicated than a simple plug-n-play 5 port switch. I could be wrong though. I know a little about networking, but not skilled enough to talk you through installation without viewing the switch. Try checking out the installation guide found here…

And if you have any problems with that and need anything explained, just post back and ill try help k. Oh and im pretty sure the console port on the switch is for programming it, which you connect to your PC using a roll-over cable
