Help! Kontakt will no longer install.

August 4th, 2016

I’m not sure where else to ask. Desperately need a solution, as I’m too broke to buy new software right now.
I use Kontakt all the time, and was having no problems on my Win7-64 machine last week.
A few days agao, I decided to try Windows8. It was a disaster. Many of my VSTs would install, but then not be seen by my DAW. I gave up and went back to Win7.
– And everything is fine again, except I CAN NO LONGER INSTALL KONTAKT ! – even the exact version I had been running before. Every time I try, I get a message like “DO you want to clean up the registry, which will help install Kontakt….” And no matter what I click, nothing installs.
I ran regedit & manually deleted the Kontakt folder in “local machines” & still no love.

Does anyone have ANY ideas at all?
– thanks

Answer #1
Is there a specific error message upon install ? or they install correctly and the daw isn’t detecting it ?
Answer #2
It doesn’t install at all. I just get the message, above.
– And this doesn’t happen with ANY other application, including other Native Insts apps. – And it’s happening with four different versions of Kontakt, at least 2 of which used to work fine.
Any ideas?

Rather than removing the registry entries alone , ensure you removed the actual dll from your vst folder as sometimes they aren’t removed for whatever reason . probably why it’s detecting it as present , also double check the registry for ni entries .
