HELP how do I see games on stick using PSP 5.51 firmware?

I updated my fat psp to 5.51 firmware and now I cannot see games on my memory stick.
Is there something I can do, or can I downgrade or upgrade?
I have not played my psp in ages but thought it was about time I updated first to play new games.
But now I’m stuffed,it will only play UMD games.But want to be able to play off the memory stick again.

Are you sure your using custom firmware?
Original Sony firmware won’t work.
You can’t play games on Sony original 5.51 firmware. You will need a PANDORA battery and a Magic Memory stick to downgrade and install CFW. All fat PSPs can be hacked…
Downgrade to CFW 5.50D3 with pandora battery.

downgrade is a very old psp term, back when the psp was still 3.2 and lower, you did a hack to downgrade your psp to 1.50 and then installed a higher custom firmware.
but after 3.2, people discovered pandora batteries, and did a clean install (a pandora battery allows you to delete and overwrite the psp software),
anyways the only way to hack a psp that is over 5.03, is with a pandora battery.

what the hell is a pandora? there is a chip on your psp battery called a eeprom bios chip, if you alter the data on this chip, the psp will get a error and will boot in bios/service mode (same thing happens to your pc if it shuts down wrong), it will boot off your memory stick, and you can do a clean install of whatever you want. (think of it like doing a clean install of windows since thats exactly what you are doing). now if your psp was still hacked you could run the pandora battery flasher (you change the data on the chip) but your psp is now unhacked, so you cant (if you can borrow a hacked psp you can run the program and reflash it back to normal)
if i were you, and without a hacked psp, i would just buy the dang thing for 6 bucks.

now if you cant, then it will cost you more, buy a new psp battery (you need to destroy your old one) get a blade and crack open your psp battery, (need to get blade and pry apart, and afterwards need to tape or glue battery case together), locate the 5th pin on the eeprom bios chip, and disconnect it (real connect just a little snip with nail clippers will do the trick), and then close the sucker back up and its now a pandora, but you just destroyed your psp battery since the pin is disconnected, the battery is no longer a regular battery and wont work (if you are good with electronic get a soldering kit and reconnect it and its good as new),.
anyways thats what you need to do, get a hold of this a pandora battery.
either borrow a hacked psp (your psp is no longer hacked you cant do it) and run the battery hacking program, or buy it for $6 bucks, or make one yourself with cracking it open.
doing the memory stick installer files and plug the battery in and do a clean install you are set.
