August 5th, 2016

I have a hp laptop the model number is G60
It has 1 x hdmi port on it. I figured its high definition port. So my question is if i brought a high defnition tv could i plug it in to the hdmi port on my laptop and watch hd movies i got online on my tv via my laptops hdmi port?.
Also if it has a hdmi does it mean the laptop is high definition. It set me in 400 for the hp.

If it has a hdmi port, you can hook it up to the tv. I don’t think the laptop is Hd but ye you could use it to play movies on ur hd tv if you got a blu-ray or Hd player on the laptop.

I looked on the hp website and it is Hd http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01543271&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=uk&product=3812213&lang=en#
15.6" Single channel LVDS HD BrightView (1366 x 768)

You could definitely do that u just need Hi Def content and a decent graphics card. And an HDMI cable of course
Answer #4
It should be okay for 720p.
Try testing a few 720p demos to check they play okay and smoothly.
If the laptop can support two displays, the internal and the hdmi as another separate display then you might be able to play back whatever the TV resolution can support, be it 720p or 1080p. But your laptop would have to be powerful enough to play it. I have not checked the hp site link.

Its a amd athlon dual core QL60 1.9 ghz with 2gig of ram 120gig hd running vista home prem
Answer #6
It might be worth trying some HD demos in both 720p and 1080p using CoreAVC Codec to check out how well it manages. You can resize the window to your display size if necessary. Using something like Media Player Classic stretch to window and zoom auto fit.
Answer #7
The cpu speed is slow, 1080p might not work smoothly.

i agree, i have HP dv4-1028us which has HDMI and it supports dual monitor and 1080p resolutions.
from the manual: High-definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) version 1.3 supporting 1080p with High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) key
test some HD content to see if it plays back smooth.
