HD name on BIOS
August 2nd, 2013
Normally when u enter the BIOS or Boot Menu the name showed for the Hard Drive used to be the Manufacturer name and disc capacity, right?
The point is, I have a HD with the name “ST925031 5AS” and capacity, can u tell me what does it mean? What’s the HD manufacturer?
Is it usually to find HD with this weird name?
Thanks in advance
Get speccy to find the model.

That’s the Model number…For more info:

Ok, so it mean that I can find a plenty of HD with this name?
Seems like I was cheated.
My laptop were to a PC Clinic days ago but they couldn’t solve my BIOS problem and I decided to use the HD as External, buying a case for SATA 2”5, but the HD has a “cyclic redundancy check” error.
Geez… never heard of Google..
In the very FIRST link of a search for that code number:
“SEAGATE HDD Mobile Momentus 5400.6 (2.5″,250GB,8MB,SATA II-300)”
About £75 to buy, about ooohhh.. $90 us
but the HD has a "cyclic redundancy check" error.
get “Hard Disk Sentinel” and check the drives health
I check the HD health and I got the following msg from Sentinel:
“64 errors occured during data transfer. This may indicate problem of the device or with data/power cables. It is recommended to examine and replace the cables if possible.
At this point, warranty replacement of the disk is not yet possible, only if the health drops further.
It is recommended to examine the log of the disk regularly. All new problems found will be logged there.”
At this point, warranty replacement of the disk is not yet possible, only if the health drops further.
ignore this ^^
get the diagnostic app from the drives web site to chek it/them
and use the model & serial number to determine if it/they are still under warranty
Thanks edwoodweb, I’ll try to check the warrant
