Has anyone run the EA Origin software in Sandboxie?

October 15th, 2013

If anyone has, can you please post the results? I guess EA is in big trouble because of something in the software that amounts to a kind of spyware. No details are known yet though.
If anyone wishes to help out with Sandboxie (i don’t know how to use that program) they can find the Origin download link here- http://www.origin.com
Much appreciated.

Why not try it and find out. Configure Sandboxie to prevent internet access. However the game size could be a problem and it will probably slow things down quite a bit.

There is no spyware in Origin. You should take off that tinfoil hat on your head.

discovered within EA's End User License Agreement for the service that, by installing the software on the system and using it, you are giving EA full license to track a number of different things on your computer, including, but not limited to personal information, computer information, application usage, software, software usage, and peripheral hardware usage. The reason for all of this is for the usual "marketing purposes" and "to improve our products and services" nonsense, but the EULA also states that EA will happily sell your information to any third parties it sees fit.

ftw
Answer #4
It’s not spyware if you are agreeing to them collecting data, which is in the EULA. (They did update the EULA to reflect this).
Steam does the same anyway.
Answer #5
Google “EA origin Germany”.
