GTX 970 horizontal flickering lines

August 4th, 2016

I just bought new pc and monitor but I have horizontal flickering lines on the monitor.
I have the latest driver from Nividia official website.
I have a new HDMI cable connected to the monitor.
The monitor is Samsung S24D590PL 27′
Does anybody know how to fix this?
Thanks in advance

Update your drivers
Of course, it sounds like its artifacting, meaning that you might need to RMA your GPU Could also be issues with your monitor
Or for that matter, your HDMI
You should individually test the monitor, followed by the HDMI cable, then the GPU to see where the problem lies.

does this flickering happen only while gaming or constantly ?

it happens constantly.

Ive had this sorta thing happen before and it was simply a cable not plugged in correctly or come loose. I also googled it, to make sure it was probably the prob, and if you do the same others have had the same problem, and most of the time they have loose cables or bad connections. Other then that they fixed it by changing the refresh rate of the monitor and/or turning on vsync.

I have checked the cable on other pc, its working fine.
I also changed the refresh rate from 60Hz to 59Hz and the vertical sync to on/off but still having the problem.
Before I installed the Nividia driver, it was working great with no issue.
Answer #6
If I was you I would both contact Nividia directly, and also delete the Nvidia software/driver and try an older version of it then you have installed (considering it worked with out the software/drivers installed).

Sounds like you solved your own problem Just use an older driver
Answer #8
Like said, try older drivers, and if it still continues, might be a bad videocard and you might need to return it.

thats interesting , if nvidia’s latest drivers had a general problem , they would have been removed by now since there would be thousands of complaints.
that latest driver may be triggered a synchronization problem specific to your gpu and monitor combination. use old drivers for now but whenever a newer driver comes out than the current one , try it to see if there is flickering again.
if flickering comes back , it means you probably will be stuck to those drivers forever which will effect performance of games greatly. at that time , i suggest you to connect your gpu to another monitor or a tv to see if there is a flickering with the newest drivers. if there is , you need to change your gpu under the warranty terms.
if there isnt , you need to find another monitor or wait for a specific fix related to that model of samsung monitor.
edit : i just got aware that you are the same guy having audio problem related to monitor , if you messed up those settings related to both video and audio , that flickering problem may also happen since all your problems are interrelated.

I just found out it is something to do with HDMI cable, because when I connected by VGA, there is no issue. However, I tested the HDMI cable in another computer and its working.
I guess I have to buy new cable or check the HDMI port if its loose.
Thank you all for the help.

problems related to cable or ports dont happen after changing drivers. when i combine your both audio and video problem , it points that you installed too many drivers as well as changed too many settings which is ended up current situation. things like that happened to me also when i first dealt with digital a/v and its cables. i dont know which ports your monitor and gpu have but using gtx 970 with VGA would be very wrong thing to do. at least use DVI , it also only carries video so problems wont happen again.

Maybe the driver just didn’t install properly Use this to completely remove the driver
http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
Then download a latest stable (non beta) driver from the nVidia site and install it there
HDMI cables just transmits ones and zeroes. I don’t think it being loose would cause your aforementioned problems.
