GTA IV doesn’t start

January 29th, 2020

Hey guys,
I have original version of GTA IV, and the game does NOT start. Just black DOS box appears for a second, and then….nothing. No error, no message, nothing… My system specs:
AMD Phenom 9850 Quad-Core Processor (4CPUs), 2.5GHz
2 GB RAM
Radeon HD 4890 1GB
Windows 7 Ultimate N
.NET Framework 3.5
I really dont know what to do with it….i would appreciate all help comments ———————–
I feel like an a**hole. My only hope for solving this problem was the PATCH. After installing it, nothing happens again. Nothing, nothing, nothing…. I tried to:
1)reinstall the game 3x
2)reinstall drivers 3x
3)reinstall .NET Framework 2x
4)reinstall Windows
I did not do just one thing -> throw my PC out of the window. I am pretty mad now. This was the last game I bought from R* Support is not responding. What should I do?

Answer #1
You should have never even bought GTA: IV for the PC. It was a terrible port, you can have the best computer in the world, and still get 20 frames per second.
Answer #2
You did all of that just to play a game?! ( weird mate, go outside a bit ) I cant help you!
Answer #3
Yes, I know that I have lag, but I will not start the game: (

1- you have original game meaning no crack has been installed correct?
2-Make note of the exact time of your crash. Go toWin7 event viewer and find the file that recorded the gtaiv crash. Post event viewer details here.
3-Make sure you have latest video card drivers
4-go to MS and get latest version of DirectX
5- The game uses Windows Live, but the game installed v2. Go to MS windows live and update to version 3
6-Have you heard about “command Line” with this game? Just google. You can turn down your settings more than are available in the game menu.
I used command line on a PC that did not meet the minimum and increased my frames per second by 33%
Your crash could be one of the above. Event viewer will tell use something about your crash
Answer #7
try downloading directx 11. i think thats the problem. my games had the same black box pop-up then nothing too. after i DL-ed and installed DX11 it worked.
if you already have it, try reinstalling it. if that doesnt work either. open your bios setup screen and put all your settings on default. if none of that works either… then… theres something wrong with your game or computer…
Answer #8
open your bios setup screen and put all your settings on default.
Optimized default settings, if there, would be better.

1. Yes, original. No crack. 2. I dont found the file which record the GTA IV crash 3. I have latest. 4. I re-installed last directX 11. No change. 5. Updated. No change 6. I have installed game a couple of months ago and it worked great. So i dont think i have to turn down my settings. I dont found default settings in bios, but i never changed anything.

You have installed the game a while ago, and it worked right? was that on the same computer? Same hardware?? same everything?
Issues it could be:
You don’t have enough Ram (and somehow it just discovered it now)
Your software are outdated (for graphic card and so on)
