graphics card suggestion

I’m looking for a new graphics card but i have no idea what specifications i have to look for to play the newest games.
Can annyone help me with that?

Include the PSU brand and power rating and your gaming resolution you will be using..

i have a asus motherboard(pci e) , AMD Athlon 64 dual core 6000+,2gb ram, i use a 24inch screen (1920×1200)
budget: maximum 175$

PSU make and power rating? The CPU you have will bottleneck you with any of the faster cards justnow. YOu could add somthing along the lines of a 8800 card to a system like that.. If you have no idea what PSU you have you are likely sitting on a pre built machine?
In wich case a GPU upgrade will prolly require you tro upgrade PSU also.
