Answer #1
you need a static IP for it, the one you are trying with is the local one, dynamic one.
talk to your ISP for a static IP.and be sure to be behind a good firewall before you even think to put your pc available on the internet via that static IP

Whats a good firewall? and cant i just make my self a static IP?
Answer #3
You can’t make a static IP by yourself, that doesn’t depend on the computer or the modem, it’s your ISP. If you have a dynamic and your ISP doesn’t whanna make it static for you (or they can’t) then just use some DDNS service like DynDNS, but bear in mind that’s it’s not simple to set it up.

My router settings have Static IP settings
Answer #5
mate , just call your ISP
Ask them, if they have facility to provide you a static IP.
mostly ISP;s provide static IP for a small price / free with a good internet connection.
call them and ask.

That’s different…
From what I see here you don’t have much experience with security which very important so I would recommend you to first investigate a little bit about things involved in maintaining a FTP server and then think about setting up one.
This is just an advice, the choice is yours.

Since you have a router it’s a bit trickier, you have to setup the router to let the FTP traffic in from the net and to your PC. Study the router settings, it will all be there.
