Fallout 4 crashing right after startup (during video)

As described in topic..
installed XATAB version (incl. 1.2.37).
After install, I could launch game (complained about missing .ini when launching with launcher) but could start via Fallout4.exe. Had some nasty graphic glitches and a whole lot of Russian. Also, menu texts were missing. At least game was running after this first install (but unplayable).
After editing and copying .ini files, I restarted, correct Fallout4 folder got created in documents, launcher was running correctly, I changed language to english in both Fallout4.ini and steam_api.ini, and somewhere in between (cannot remember..) I got the game to run with Russian menus where I could see the texts.
After that, I only got crahses shortly after starting the game.
Tried re-installing the xatab version (I think I got 1 working run out of it – difficult to verify with install taking abou 40 mins) and copying some random patches I found over. No change.
I also updated NVidia driver to latest.
I also tried some of the suggestions I found online, like running windowed (borderless) mode, or Admin mode, but no improvement.
Win 7 64, NVidia 750.

As is the case so often.. I just found out that when I change in Fallout.ini
[General]
sLanguage=ru
it runs again. Also, there are no _EN string in the Data\strings folder, just _RU strings.

Legit from here.
XATAB release, which seems to be a repack, incl 1.2.37 patch. Should be EN/RU, but seems to be only working for RU. (Also, installer is RU and defaults are RU.)

I downloaded Fallout 4-CODEX and had no problems what so ever..

now. (And installing XTAB again due to me messing with files.) With a little luck, it will work after installing the language I am actually using.
Update 1:
No, I think XTAB is not working for any language other than RU. Even after installing language packs, it stops on “New Game” with a black screen. Voices are missing, too. Broken mess.
Update 2:
CODEX working fine so far. Still no audio in game (3D, videos not affected). But.. that seems to be another problem:

worked fine for me – changing default speaker output to 16bit/48k. No idea what Bethesda was doing.. never had problems in a single other game.
