Fallout 3 problem

Fallout 3 crashes when I either try to talk to that guy at Megaton or try to go down this place in the train station where those two ghouls are to find Ian West. I have skullpturas hotfix1 but it still crashes is there another hot fix or do I just have to wait?

#3.5 Bumping is allowed provided that the reply has relevant information that is useful to the continuance of the topic. Short intervals of bumps are not allowed to bump the topic up onto the first page by the same person.
Example:
Allowed: A topic discusses a news event. The topic's discussion has died but there is new striking evidence to turn thoughts around. A reply with such information that is relevant and useful is allowed.
Allowed: Requests may only be bumped once every 48 hours since the last reply.
Disallowed: A one-liner reply with the words "lol".
Disallowed: Bumping topics continuously to get them up to the first few pages.

post your system specs and your operating system. have you updated directx 9 and your graphic card drivers? im not quite sure if this will fix your crash issue but there has been reports of people experiencing crashing of fallout 3 as well and the way they fixed it was playing in windowed mode so give it a try! i believe to play in windowed mode you must press CTRL and middle enter.

Or you can set windowed mode in the options menu on the launcher. (Ctrl+Enter should work though.)

Tried windowed mode. I can play the game on Ultra with constant 40+fps 8800gtx

It might be a corrupt save file.
Try reverting back to an old save, then try starting a new game and rushing toward that quest and see if that happens still. (I don’t know how far along that is so it’s up to you to keep going or not.)

so you’re saying you can play the game on ultra with no crashes? why not play on ultra then? i believe the human eye can only see 36 frames so 40 frames is fine.

The thing is when I try to inject skulls new hotfix I get an error. When I try to install the Hotfix it says: “You need at give at least one filename to rebuild on the command line”.
I placed it in my Fallout 3 folder.

may i ask what release of the game you got? if its the ripped version, i believe all the ripped versions (and possibly non ripped) have problems with nvidia cards. my 7600gt never had a problem though.

I’m using skullpturas version. But the thing is the new hotfix gives me an error. I was thinking of keeping my saves and reinstalling. Opinions?

well supposedly the hotfix supposed to fix the crash for nvidia cards… wouldn’t hurt to reinstall. go ahead and try it.
usually skullptura makes great rips.

Can someone tell me how to exactly install skullpturas hotfix, just incase I’m doing it wrong.
