Dynamic Disk to Basic Disk

November 12th, 2013

I have huge amounts of data on all of my volumes. I don’t want to lose them but I want to install Linux on one of the partitions. Right now , due to W7 , I have a dynamic disk , how do i convert it to basic disk. I have tried Dynamic Disk Converter 3.0 but it said that it needed to delete 2 volumes to complete it but those are the main 2 volumes. My last solution is the Acronis Disk Director. Any other quick solution please?

First of all, make sure you have all your data backed up. As in backed up on another DRIVE (not partition) that is preferably not plugged in OR can be unplugged later (don’t want it messing up due to some slight of software).
You always run the risk of messing up your data when doing stuff like this, especially if you have no clue what you’re doing.
What does the option show as under the disk manager?
