DVD Writer takes time to burn dvd
July 31st, 2016
Please help me and tell me what could be the problem.
Thanking you in advance.
Are you using Nero Burning ROM for this purpose? If so, set the speed to something higher than 4x (for DVD) or 8x (for CD).
thats not too uncommon
the easyest way to speed up a burn is
a) buy better quality disks, with a higher ‘x’ raiting (eg a 16x dvd will burn quicker than a 8x dvd)
b) dont use your computer whilst the disk is burning, when writing to a disk, all the data is cached from your hard drive into a write buffer. if your using your computer, it may cause the reading into the buffer to be slower than is needed, and will slow the write down alot
What is its DMA setting? You can find it in Device Manager under the IDE Controller section, open the channel its on (Primary or Secondary) and look in Properties > Advanced. Its not all that easy to identify which is which, especially if you don’t know what Primary and Secondary Channels are. A mastered device is usually tagged with a 0 and a slave device as 1. So if your burner is on the Secondary Channel as a slave look in the secondary IDE for device 1.
Windows has a rom drive error counter that will automatically lower the DMA by one when so many errors occur. Unfortunately they were not thinking when they initiated it because when something is wrong with a drives setup, most people keep trying to get it to work and all the failures add up to lowering the DMA all the way to PIO which is as slow as a drive gets. When in “channels .
> properties . advanced you can select “DMA if available” but if it doesn’t change you will have to fix it thru the registry and thats another story. If it already reads DMA3 or 4 then your probably ok.
Do you own a dvd lens cleaning disk?
