Delete unallocated disk
August 4th, 2016
Open command prompt (Start-search CMD), type diskpart, then enter, then type list disk, enter, then select disk X (X is whatever number your 3TB disk is), enter, then type clean, enter. Wait for it to finish then create a new partition or partitions in disk management.
Are you by any chance using Windows XP ? XP can only utilise around 2.25GB as it stands.
If this is the case then use Windows Vista/7/8.
You tried formatting it with disk management tool ?
Start > Put this into search and run it “diskmgmt.msc” (without the quotes)
Go into Disc Management and convert the disc to GPT
Go into Disc Management and convert the disc to GPT
Just what i did and worked.

Sounds great ^^
Just to clarify, that is the limit of a MS DOS partition using 512 size sectors, its not a limit on the total size of the drive per say.
