Can you suggest me a good and silent CPU cooler for AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2 GHz Quad?
The stock market cpu cooler is very noisy unfortunately…

Coolermaster Hyper 212+, go with this one if your a cheapskate, its good and yet flawed at the same time.
Noctua NH-D14, go with this one if you want to warp your motherboard faster.
Any water cooling systems, don’t go for it unless you want to kill your motherboard faster, only go for it if you know what your doing.

I think he means that the cooler is extremely heavy and could end up bending/warping your motherboard if say the motherboard is vertical in a case…
Currently the best/peoples favourite for a cheap better than stock cooler are these:
Coolermaster Hyper 212+

or
Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Revision 2.0

Indeed.
Now when you buy a CPU cooler, you’ve got to do some considerations.
1. How easy is it to clean it?
2. How heavy is it (Scythe has the heaviest coolers around).
3. Its fin’s sharpness (You want to avoid cutting your hands if applicable).
4. The smoothness of the contact surface with the CPU heatspreader.
5. Its materials (copper is good, but it is not easy to clean).
6. Can I fit my own choice of fans?
Of course size and heaviness also plays another role, how easy is it to clean the cooler? You’d often have a hard time just installing it.
Dust buildup is fairly quick for computers, especially if you placed them on the floor.
You’d have to buy stuff such as compressed air.
Now if you wiped the base of a copper contact with any alcohol whatsoever, you’d smudge the base and hence you will need expensive copper cleaning sprays.
Personally I prefer to use the Prolimatech Megahalems, or the Genesis.
Yes a higher initial cost (damn them for not including a AMD mounting kit in each box).
You can chose any decent 120mm fans out there and whack in 1 or 2.
You can choose to lap the contact area, personally I wouldn’t do it as its only a few degrees and the precision that we can do isn’t as good as the machinery.
