I would build a new one if I was you, maybe keep the case if you can but I would go for something like this.

The only thing you could recycle is your hard drive and your case, but I would go all out for a new build.
(Do not go for prebuilt, you will get nothing compared to building yourself)

: I only really have a budget of 500 max at the moment so I think if was to build a new computer I would have to wait until I can afford it. Which website is that screenshot from btw?
Answer #4
Moved from Off-Topic to Helpdesk.
Answer #5
Overclockers uk, the best site for PC parts in the u.k.
They have really good support and they used DPD so you get next day delivery.
Answer #6
Hi Paddy, I my opinion why pay 200+ for an Intel core when there only used for serious multithreading programs such as video editing/conversion, go for an AMD quad or Hex, much better value for money and better for gaming purposes. A quad core 3.4Ghz, 4gb DDR3 ram, Mobo cost me 230 from www.Novatech.co.uk
Try going on there and checking on bundles, or can build a really good rig with a hex core decent gfx card with a 1tb or more HDD for under 500, go For AMD cores and AMD/ATI gfx cards.
Answer #7
first thing you should tell us is what you want to use the PC for.
‘s PC is only usefull if you’re doing some very heavy stuff, like gaming on full HD, and even then it uses some expensive parts. otherwise it’s a waste of money.
Answer #8
I’m using the PC for work so it needs to be fast at multitasking and I also want to take it up into the next level of gaming.
Answer #9
I’d recommend just waiting a bit longer save some money and build an entirely new computer. You can probably make a rig that is 600 euros and make it twice as better than your current system.
Currently no person really needs anything bigger than a 2 cores. If you are a gaming that is the perfect amount. If you plan on making movies and ripping movies and what not 4 cores would help increase the speed greatly. other than that, Find a dual core that is above 3.0 ghz. This should run you around ~ 150 or so possible even cheaper. (This is intel not amd)
Pick up around 4 gb of ram
GTX 260 or any GTX 200 series.
Grab any PSU system that is 550watts or more. This should run a lot faster than your current rig and handle gaming pretty well.
Answer #10
could you please tell me what resolution you use? in the mean time I’ll see if I can make something with your budget.
edit:
this is a suggestion based on your response. it’s a bit more then 500 you have, but with the 68xx/gtx4xx series out it’s rather useless to buy any lesser card. for the same reason I chose for a 1055T, though if you plan to overclock I’d pay 50 more and get a 1075T, if not it’s not worth the money.
I chose for 6850 over the GTX470 because amd motherboard don’t support SLI. with the board/PSU you have you should have no trouble adding a second 6850 later on.

Try this. It will give you better upgrade options like Crossfire in the future

Also @ the above posters. The OCZ 1600MHz CL8 kit goes for the same price on that site
Answer #12
thanks for pointing that out. I’m not from the UK myself so I don’t use that site very much.
you’re choosing a bit higher end mobo then me I see, though I think your CPU is a bit to weak to get much advantage from it. also it lacks some features like usb3/sata3.
your case is a good alternative for the 690 if he wants to save a bit on that as well.
Answer #13
I'm not from the UKMe neither
you're choosing a bit higher end mobo then me I see
There isn’t a cheaper motherboard supporting Crossfire on the entire site. Or maybe I didn’t look hard enough.
though I think your CPU is a bit to weak to get much advantage from itYes but it has good features like the better than onboard sound card, Crossfire that’s not crippled and etc and it’s not really expensive. Since the Crosshair IV has been released this thing has dropped in price a lot.
Answer #14
DDR2 is getting more and more expensive now.
You may as well not get any new RAM and get a GPU or something, and overclock the CPU.
Answer #15
overclock the CPU.
That I wouldn’t suggest, he is kind of new to this stuff by the looks of it.
Overclocking the CPU will only help by a few FPS so, that isn’t a realistic option.
Plus its just a pure time consuming action.
Answer #16
Have you looked at tigerdirect and newegg?
