Comp freezing
August 4th, 2016
Could it be HDD problem, or what is it? Thx in advance!
Try giving it a good clean out inside the case …….. especially the CPU heatsink.
Not saying it will fix the problem but when you don’t know what it is you have to start somewhere. Whilst you are inside the case check all the connector cables (pull them out then put them back again)
Done that, but no change Is there any way of checking if hard drive has gone bad? Any way I can check that?
THx

Yep… use Hiren boot disk and use one of the programs (segate..Maxtor..Ect) and run a full scan. That will let you know if the HD is bad.
Hope this helps
Okay, but I need some info on that Hiren boot disk, what to do with it, how to use it?
refresh
Anybody can explain how to use Hiren boot disk, and maxtor or segate??
Maxtor and Seagate are Hard Drive manufacturers. Also, download Hiren’s BootCD from here for example:
http://www.google.com?t=880333&highlight=
Download it and extract the archive. You should get an .ISO file. Burn it to a CD as an image and boot from it. Then in the boot menu go to the diagnostic tools and scan your HDD. Good luck mate ^_^
Download HirenBootCD ………. burn it to disk.
Put the CD in your drive and reboot your PC.
When PC boots you get the option of booting OS or booting Hirens CD …….. Choose Hirens CD then use the menu on the CD to got where you want.
Thx guys, these were the fastest responses ever!!!
Thanks !!!!
Is it because he is trying to run too many applications at the same time??
I mean does your frnd click on 100 things to open at the same time?
Nope! It happens even on opening my computer… just randomly….
I’ve removed all of the programs even from startup, and he has 2GB or RAM, so it shouldn’t be freezing even if he was opening multiple “heavy” programs…
It just freezes for a minute, and then starts working again like nothing happened..and so on… ?! I’ve recently formated the drive and installed new XP pro. Is it maybe possible that something has gone bad in installation ??
I’m guessing it’s a hard drive issue… but If anyone can help.. PLEASE!
this might be a long shot, but i had a similar situation a few years back with an older computer (6+ years). It ended up being a faulty power supply. Just something else to consider

I guess you should consider an expert’s advice…
Contact the person who got the windows and all installed for you….This is 100% a strange thing….
