Comodo Antivirus Told me I had 2 iffy files – Deleted &

October 14th, 2013

Comodo Free Antivirus located 2 files in my OS which it declared to be “suspect”. Following my usual policy, I deleted the files and when I turned off my PC it refused to reboot. This happened first with my 64 bit PC with Win7 on it. Several days later, the same blurb appeared on my backup 32 bit PC with XP Pro Corp – I deleted the 2 files and immediately, I had to put in my original OS CD and reinstall the XP OS. All other supporting software was untouched – then I realized that the same files located by Comodo on XP was the same as that which happened with Win7. However with Win7, I have been unable to reinstall the Win7 OS onto the hard drive, because the hard drive is also no longer accessible.
I have purchased 4 x 80GB SATA hard drives second hand, from e.Bay for $24 each and am waiting for them to arrive in the post. I will partition and setup one hard drive in my 64 bit PC with Win7 and all supporting software, passwords to sites and usual stuff which takes about 8 hours, then clone the new setup with Spotmau Power Suite, onto the remaining 3 hard drives, which takes 30 minutes a hard drive and then I can switch drives when they crash in 5 minutes and I can reformat the crashed drive and reinstall a partition, as above in 30 minutes to keep plenty of backups available for Win7.
I find Win7 crashes after a few months and it is a good policy for me to keep ready replacement hard drives, set up and ready to go, on hand.
However, back to the beginning. Be aware of Comodo and what it appears to do. I have removed Comodo from all of my PC’s and am now running with the free version by AVG Antivirus, which works just fine, so far.
