COM surrogate has stopped working (windows 7 extreme)

i have the latest divx, i dont use nero, it only happens when i try to open a picture file using the default windows picture preview thing
codecs im using are what came with the windows 7 extreme OS
they havnt been changed since i installed 7
this just started recently, so its some program or something that ive installed.
any tips appreciated.
i HAVE tried everything your going to find by googling this issue.

Type Services on Starts search box, open it up and look for the Service make sure its enabled.
But TBH first thing i notice was that you mention using a modified version. That is a big no in my book. Never use modified versions unless you know for sure what services been disabled or deleted. Problem with modified versions is that sometimes kids make them and delete services instead of disabling. Like deleting print spooler, wtf only cuz it uses 2MBs of RAM? lolz Its why i avoid them or if i need to have slim version of OS i modify it myself to keep the things i need and will use.

tried it.. did NOT work
and yes i restarted after i did it.. still nothing

I don’t have nero on my pc, and I don’t intend to, so I can’t help you personally.
