checksum does not match…….from a windows 7 disk….

i put together a system over the weekend and i bought a new harddrive but everything else was scavanged from old parts….so everything went fine ecept when i went to load windows my windows 7 64 bit disk i got off here gave me this message while trying to boot…
“‘the file is possible corrupt. the file header checksum does not match the computed checksum”‘….
i just loaded this windows 7 on my laptop….so i know it works
i loaded xp 32 bit that i got from here also and it worked just fine, except the audio dosent worl….. but i want my windows 7 64 bit does anyone have some suggestion….thanks newbie

Not sure what you mean by loaded..
Do you mean installing or booting installed windows?

i was installing from my windows 7 disk….trying to do a new install on the computer i just put together….i just dont know enough about 32 and 64 bit….i wonder if there was some reason i could use the windows 7 64 and that’s why it gave me that message….and it let me load the xp 32bit….i just dont get why i just loaded the windows 7 on a different machine just a couple days ago and now it wont work on this one….

checksum errors mean that a file is not being read correctly from, in the case, the dvd.
It is possible that a dvd may work correctly in one computer and not another; normally due to a slight alignment issue with either the writing or reading dvd as applicable.
If you can boot the “frankenstein” computer from a USD drive, I would use your normal computer to create a bootable win 7 installation drive. You then don’t have to spend any more time on the dvd (which loads so much slower than if you go the usb route)

is right..That error is normally related to the DVD Rom drive not being able to read some files..
You can Google and you get full tutorials how to install from usb..

it was a disk issue…cause i loaded windows 7 via USB and it is working great…..
