well mate have you tried a different CD
that happens sometimes if the CD is messed up
you may be right about the driver
try going into device manager and then reinstall the driver
post back with resuls please
Answer #2
if you cant see the cd rom icon in my computer then:
turn off your pc, open the case, pull out the cd rom wires out, turn on your pc and turn it off after it loads. then connect the wires and give it a try.
this is what i do when my cd rom dissapears

no problem

Is you CD drive being detected in bios ? (tap the required key, usually ‘Delete’, as soon as you power on your PC)
If not, then you need to check the cabling and connections or try another drive..

Go to device manager and delete the CD/DVD-ROM Drivers. Then get Driver Genius Professional and download new drivers for you machine. You can get it from the forum or from this link:
http://~ Dead file host ~/files/70444546/Driver.Genius.2007.Professional.v7.1.622.Incl.Keymaker.WORKING-EMBRACE.zip
Install the drivers and restart your PC. See if it changes anything. Good luck mate ^_^
