Can’t get into laptop says Enter HDD Password
Dell Inspiron mini
Service Tag BT87WM1
Service Code 25711930585
Thank you for any help, much appreciated.
Download Hirens Boot CD and remove it….
From google:
You have two options to best of my knowledge.
Option 1: call Dell Tech Support and get the password from them. They have them all in their data base. Each code is unique to your laptop. They'll ask you to read them your service tag, then they'll look it up. Trust me, it's faster to do it this way. Make sure you a service tag. Below link is the contact information of dell.

Option 2: Not sure if it will work . But give it a try. 1) turn on the machine and press "F2" to go into set up.
2) Press alt-p seven times to go to the last page.
3)Press the down arrow to highlight HDD password. Set a password as instructed and reboot the machine.
4) You can remove this password later once your machine starts fine.
Hope this helps.
Cheers!!!

@wo_Ot? unforchantly there isn’t a cd drive so I can’t boot it, I’ll try a flash drive but I don’t think it will work.
@bugzz When I try to go into bios I can’t navigate because that darn “Enter HDD Password” message is preventing me from doing anything.
Dell and HP usea a master password reset
if you can prove the laptop is yours get in touch with them and give all your details etc.
unless it`s stolen then your more than likely stuffed.
Do not try to guess the password on a passworded Hard Drive. 3 wrong guesses will often result in the information on the hard drive being lost forever

Yeah I called Dell they told me it’s going to cost $49 dollars because the warranty is expired, That’s OK it’s not my laptop so I told the owner and leave it up to them.

They probably misunderstood you for a BIOS password,It’d likely cost much more then that,Removing
an HDD password is not an easy task one bit,It’s a hardware lock with the password stored on it’s firmware
and there are no master passwords! Removing it requires expensive, complicated hardware that only data recovery companies tend to have!
Check this site , have not tried it but everyone seem to be getting results,[let me know how it works out] :

I guarantee you the OP won’t get any from this one,That method can only be used for BIOS passwords,Here were talking about an
HDD password,Which is an entirely different thing and not as easy to bypass.

Well, as Roberto said, this is not an easy thing to bypass, pretty much every suggestion on this thread is not valid for this type of password.
You can try HDD Unlock Wizard, but I don’t think you can use it for free, its a tool provided by AFF Data Recovery.

As far as I know, HDD Unlock Wizard will reset the password, but it will also erase the data on it and re-certify it.
I’m just going to bed, but Aff Repair Station may work, but I don’t know it’s specifics, ie. if it will do netbooks and notebooks ? I know it does desktops fine. I think it’s something like hdd-tools.com
