can a drop effect my laptop speed?

well yeah, couldve damaged anything…
What I can suspect is there was some damage to the hard disk.

Is there any way to fix it? I tried resetting the ram but I still see no difference.

What kind of damage could it have done to my HD because my hard drive is closed If you want to access the hard drive you will also access the ram and the wifi as indicated by the picture on the closing thing.
It doesn’t matter that it’s “closed” HDDs do have mechanical parts in em which can be damaged/misaligned if dropped! Get hard disk sentinel from the apps section and get it checked.
This is what I get.
Hello? Any help?

Sure you are not running in power saver mode ? The only thing I can think of is you damaged the cpu fan and you are now being throttled like crazy because of the increased heat.
To test this run cpuz and watch the multiplier… Actually I also remember an issue with a hp laptop being throttled down to a 2 or 4x multiplier due to a faulty power connection (needed to reboot from a cold start to get back to 15-20x)

No I am not running in power saver mode it is on balanced and I put changed the plan settings to never turned off display, never put the computer to sleep, and don’t dim the display. I said the performance of my laptop decreased when I turned it on after I dropped it on accident and even reformating the computer doesn’t do no difference.
Your HDD seems to be okay. But I suggest you use atto disk benchmark to check on the transfer rates.
Set that aside, It’s quite possible the motherboard was somewhat damaged as well, So it’s hard to diagnose.
You’ve mentioned it’s slow, But haven’t been specific enough, Slow when doing what exactly? Check for unusual
CPU usage on task manager. Which Antivirus/Firewall are you using? Some of em can be very resource intensive.

Windows started slower(even though already said I reformatted) when I try to click on the programs I downloaded it doesn’t open right away like it used to I hope you know what I am talking bout. Nothing has been installed and I been using kaspersky internet security and that doesn’t have anything to do with it as my laptop is good enough to handle any anti virus. This is the only thing installed on my pc

Check the multiplier with cpuz see what frequency the cpu is running at
Should I make a video on what I am talking bout?
There we go 4x multiplier resulting in 800mhz clock rate instead of 2600 MHz. Next step would be to determine why you are being throttled down, go into the bios and see if you can get a temperature readout or use software that can read this.

My laptop was working perfectly even thought I never checked the mhz before the drop for a year that I had bought my laptop I never needed help on my laptop but I changed to 2600 Mhz and lets see if it works good for a week if not I will respond back and from there I don’t know what to do.
Hmm I still can’t open downloads right away to install. Still slow in some while doing normal browsing.
Still slow even though I changed my hard drive
Dude it has absolutely zilch to do with the hdd if you had an SSD it would still be slow.
Your CPU is running at 800MHZ instead of 2600MHZ that is definitely the problem!
You need to get the temperature of the cpu and see if that is the reason why you are being throttled or it could be the power brick/power connection.
You can do this with the bios hardware monitoring screen or you can use system monitoring programs

I used the amd catalyst and I put at only 2600MHz from 800MHz-2600MHz but still lag. Something is wrong with my laptop because before the drop I never had to change my cpu speed and still lagging even though I do change it so now it only runs 2600Mhz forever.

That laptop is all ~ censored ~ up now that you dropped it. You might as well throw it away and get a new one.

And have you verified with another tool like cpuz that its running at 2600mhz I doubt it let you change the multiplier on the fly. If it worked you’d notice the difference.

its still slow I would like to open my laptop and check around but i don’t want to ruin it even more so any more fixes or something?
Please help I really want my laptop back to normal. Can it be the ram fault the ram is running at 536Mhz from checking at speccy. Does a 536MHz even exist for ddr3?
If so can I just buy any 800Mhz ram stick and just put one with the hp stick? What I mean is just take out one ram stick and put new ram stick and keep the other one in still.
EDIT: I think my laptop came with 800MHz but can I put a 1333Mhz ram in my laptop or will I have problems with that?
Looks like it’s running very hot, motherboard at 82 C, sounds awfully high to me. Maybe a cooling fan is broken.

I think my laptop was running hot before the drop. My laptop only has one cooling I think and its spinning.
Hello could it be the ram? If it is I will buy I don’t feel like trying and returning, will a 1000mhz ddr3 ram work?
