Burned PSX CDs and soundtracks…

July 31st, 2013

Alright. I’ve got a bit of an issue.
My PS2 Slim is set up to where it can use SwapMagic, and with a little trick, I can run burned PSX games as well. However, I’ve met some pretty big issues.
Some of the PSX games I’ve burned off won’t play their soundtracks. Sound Effects and FMVs play just fine, but music is non-existent. Some of the files have been .bin and .img files, and I’ve been using Daemon Tools built-in CD burner. It doesn’t let me use .bin or .img, just the ccd or cue files that come with it.
Basically what I’m saying is… What am I doing wrong that makes the soundtrack non-existent?

Would something like Alcohol 120% work well too?

No idea..I always used Nero for burning PSX games..Never had any problems…Long time ago..

Remember PS games use CD XA mode 2.
Some image formats don’t store the second track.

Well how do you get them to store the second track? So far, I’ve tested Dark Stone (Zero music), Doom (Stuck at loading screen) and Final Doom (Which doesn’t launch, but instead, the PS2 runs the disc speed at an insane level)
I didn’t think using burned PS1 games on an actual console could cause so many problems… lol

Clone CD images are some of the best you can get, they will often store the second track.
So is Alcohol.
It depends on your game dumps.
You will never chose a Bin or iso directly as they don’t store track 2 info.

Try ImgBurn, if you are downloading games then go for the Redump games and burn with ImgBurn. The Redump images contain the audio tracks

What are “Redump” games?
Answer #9
Redump is a project to backup games so they are 100% identical to the original discs, they cover most CD/DVD based games
you can probably find a few over here

I download them from a private torrent site then burn with imgburn

Ashampoo should also work fine.

I’ve read about this on other sites, from what I remember it’s one of 3 things.
1: Your Nero files/games files have become corrupt
2: Try burning on a slower speed
3: Your burner is not writing properly.
Those seemed to be the top 3 reasons why people have issues with backup games
