BSOD with Deus Ex 2: Invisible War (ATI3DUAG)
February 11th, 2014
The occurance of these BSOD’s seems to be random, becuase I can play the game one day, and I’ll get past 3 loading screens (map transitions), but I’ll play it another day, only to BSOD at the first loading screen I get to.
The only clues as to whats causing this problem are that the BSOD’s make reference to a DLL file called ATI3DUAG.DLL. It is ALWAYS, without fail, this file that comes up in the BSOD screen.
This game is pretty old, Im guessing it came out around 2004 by the graphics, so its old, but not so old that a newer PC shouldn’t be able to run it, becuase of backwards compatibility problems with newer H/W Vs older software. We’re not talking DOS era games or Win95 games.
My PC is capable of running games that are being released today, so I have no idea why a game that came out in 2004, is giving me such problems.
I have 3 files called ATI3DUAG on my computer. All of them were modified on exactly the same date (yet 2 of them are compressed, because the writing is blue), and one of them is a DLL file, with the extension changed to DL_ instead of DLL
File 1: DLL file (C:\WINDOWS\system32)
File 2: compressed DLL file (C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE\CX104554_BC2BFBE19D829530FE73164D559A78A122F0E353\B104286)
File 3: compressed DL_ file (C:\ATI\Support\10-9_xp32_dd_ccc_enu\Packages\Drivers\Display\XP_INF\B104286)
Hopefully somebody can help me get to the bottom of this problem, I’ve tried to include as much information as possible, and everything I found searching the net, either has no reply, or isn’t related to my problem at all. I know this game was recieved badly by DX fans, but I loved DX1, and I just want to continue the story before DX 3 comes out, and besides, the game seems good, apart from crappy voice actors (just like DX1, but it was still great)
My specs are: Win XP pro 32bit, 3GHz intel pentium D (2 cores), 4gb RAM and an XFX Radeon HD4870 with 1gb of VRAM.
Thanks
I have 4870×2 and have similar problem. But i have a fix. Go to your CCC if u dont have go to ati.amd.com and download the drivers for your card. then go to advacned mode and go to AMD overdrive and unlock it and put on manual fan and put it about 60-70% When my GPU gets over 90 degrees i usually get the same bsod.
I hope this helped
Hey thanks man! I didn’t think anybody would ever be able to helep me! I’m playing the new Deus Ex right now, but I’ll give this a try, because I really wanted to be able to get further than the 1st scene in DX2 without my computer throwing a fit!
Hope it works!!
Edit: I also get EXACTLY the same problem with Thief 3 (Another game which I loved, yet at the same time hated because of these infuriating problems)
