Bought used Ipod (Help)

I bought a used Ipod from a friend.
How do I start a Ipod Library without losing all of the stuff already on the ipod?
I want to add some of the songs I have stored on my computer. PLEASE HELP.
By the way I use PC.

use i-tunes to manage the ipod. you could back it up, update it, restore it to default and then add the songs back in
backup should be the first thing you do
