Bluray rip question

August 7th, 2016

Hey…
Ok so I downloaded the Infamous Bluray rip of Wall*E last night and I didn’t know it was gonna be in .mkv format lol. Its the first Bluray rip I’ve downloaded so what media can I play this on? I know computer .. but what about DVD player?
I normally stream xvid to my xbox 360 but I don’t think it streams .mkv
So how can I get it downstairs to the plasma tv? Can I burn this to a DVD disc?
Thanks

to play it on computer, play with media player classic. to burn it to dvd or avi use MKV to AVI Converter

Go here 1st of all to learn how to burn to DVD
http://www.google.com?t=582535
then get Zoom PLayer with the CCCP codec pack to view it ALL on PC

VLC, google and download it, I don’t think you can stream it unless you have a wireless-n router, and no you can’t burn 1080p/720p to a dvd as the size and compression would be too much, and even if it did fit, no dvd player plays a 1080p/720p file, they only upconvert 480i, as well as the dvd laser not being able to support the HD bandwidth.

The 360 supports MKV’s mate. I stream ’em all the time (wired).

How are you streaming them with Windows media centre? I’m trying to stream it off the dashboard but the file isn’t even appearing..
Does it support video files over 4gb ? :S
I’d like to get it streamed to my 360 if possible
Answer #6
If you cant get it to stream, use ConvertXToDVD to burn it. To view th MKV file you can use VLC player on your computer. IMO MKV files decrease quality yet remaing huge. I noticed that back when i got Transformers blu ray rip which is 7GBS in MKV file and looks the same as the 700MB rip. Teh naked eye cant tell much quality, or maybe my high definition tv isnt so high cuz it looked teh same.

Hey thanks for your replies!
After doing some reading and research.. I’ve finally got it streaming to my 360, and boy it looks great. I agree with you its hard to see the difference between quality but I think animation shows a big difference. I know transformers has some animation but yea it looks great on my tv. I knew how to play it on my PC (I use Gom player over VLC player..) but I wanted to get it to the xbox since it has a more powerful video card and it really displays it wonderfully.
If anyone else is interested heres the program I used to get it streaming.. it basically unrars the mkv and puts it in a format the xbox is familiar with.

you can stream mkv to xbox 360, you gotta transcode it or some ~love~ like that, I think TVersity is the program people use. As for burning to dvd, thats a bad idea because the size wouldn’t fit, and if it did, the quality would be deminished. .mkv isnt really a good format to burn, its good for playing on PC with big monitor like that.

You just make sure your Xbox and PC/laptop are on the same network. You stick the mkv’s in “My Videos” in my documents. Then you open Windows Media Player 11 (XP or Vista, it doesn’t matter). Click the arrow under library, then Media Sharing. Select “Share my Media”. Then select the xbox and click Allow.
No additional programmes needed.
