Best way to convert to HD videos

I need a good software that can convert files (mostly mp4) to 720p HD. It needs to improve the quality. Any recommendations?

sorry man this really isnt possible in the way you think it can be. those compressed mp4’s are just that…compressed you cant take a 700mb avi dvdrip and make it a 4.37gb mkv 720p. are you watching these on a big tv? on a pc?

the software. I have yet to experience anything but perfect conversion. On a 1080p big screen, the
picture is too real

EDIT: after re-reading, I see you are trying to create HD? that I dont know
if you can do that. You need to download 720 and convert to DVD as in my
example.

Dvd is only 576p maximum though.

Yes DVD is either 720 x 480 or 720 x 576 in resolution..
No point in trying to up the resolution of a file…Your TV does that when you watch it anyway.
If you want 720p, then download them at that..
