Best settings to overclock my old 1.7 intel celeron CPU?

August 5th, 2016

1) i did not install that thermal fluid (that white thick liquid came with the fan!)
So, is it a must to install?
2) what are the safest setting, check the screens!
Note:*The CPU temp now is about 49c
*i already overclocked it (1.7—>1.8) by making the “cpu clock —> 106” and other as defaults, but i dont know if this right or not

Screens (sorry for the hazy pics)

So, is it a must to install?

yes it helps heat transfer and OC’ing creates more heat
do you know where the BIOS reset jumper is on the mobo (RESET CMOS is an other name)
if the CPU is not locked bump up the multiplier (14x) but it’s probably locked
“CPU clock” is the FSB (front side bus)
go ahead and increase that by 1 or 2 till the PC won’t boot
use the RESET CMOS to go back to default then set the “CPU clock” to just under where it would not boot
say it craps out @ 120 set it to 118
max temp on that CPU is 72 so you want to keep idle temp around 45
after you get the CPU where you want it try the 110 memory setting
use the RESET CMOS to go back to default if it won’t boot
and keep a record of where you set the CPU settings so you can return to them after a RESET CMOS

Thanks, this was of great help, i will do what you said,
and i installed that “heat sink compound” and the temp. went from 45c to 36 c
thanks man, this was great, i will tell what i did about the cpu later, thanks again
