ASUS ROG POSEIDON-GTX780-P-3GD5 DVIx2

May 8th, 2020

Anyone have any opinions on this card?
ASUS POSEIDON-GTX780-P-3GD5 DVIx2
Australian $795.00
I need 2 new Vid cards and as I have the Asus Formula VI I figured they would go well together? I’m no pro anymore on cards so I thought I’d ask here.

You can use any PCI-E cards. There is no such thing as incapability, only in rare cases when memory modules that you attach to the motherboard won’t post or work normally.
Answer #2
Get normal GTX 780 and OC it or GTX 780Ti instead of this card.

I was kind of impressed with the in built water cooling as the MB has the same. I am not adverse to getting a standard and overclocking though.
had a look
Any GTX 780Ti is the same price or more and the GTX is around $600

Just to make sure you know, that “in built water cooling” is just the water blocks and fittings, you still need to build your own loop. But yeah RoG stuff is pretty sexy IMO.

Yeah I got that bit. I have never tried water cooling but as the Asus Maximus Formula has the built In and the cards above have too, Im feeling pretty excited about the process. But, like I said I have never tried it so itll take some research. Thanks for your positive reply. I also believe its the sexiest hardware ever. I am really happy with the build I have except for the current 2 GT 640 cards.

Make sure you really do your study when it come to watercooling. Your motherboard and the new gpu has G1/4 fitting. Now you should consider which size fitting you want like ID 1/2 inch 3/8 inch or 1/4 inch. Pick your radiator, pump and reservoir then the tubing which fits the ID. Water block for your cpu. Static pressure fan for rad. Layout of the tubing and all other watercooling component. Remember the reservoir should always be on top of the pump. Pump should have water in them before turning on or else they are easy to get burned out. Run the watercooling for at least 12 hours without the system turning on. No power or battery. To do a leak test
Remember do research. Lots of research. Once you gone watercooling with highend gear thats are contain damn high overclocking. Your not going back to air.

Similar stats, nice. Id love to do quad but I dont really have a reason to. Not that that has ever stopped me. I got mine to 4.5 with the noctua fan so id love to see the water results

1.36v for 3.5 is high. But your cpu able to pass 4.5 which a lots cant. Try going pass 4.8 and your good to go
Mine went to 5.0 but fail on stress test x.x
Answer #9
tried higher than 4.5 on fan cooler and windows 8.1 wouldnt boot. Also, I cant set the Asus bios to optimal on any setting. It just wont boot. Asked at the ROG forum and they said they seen that allot so they showed me how to do a basic manual OC
After 25 years Ive only just tried OC this year. Going slow, to expensive to screw with. All in all its the fastest PC Ive had access to this year, Im really happy. photoshop opens in an instant, boot time is great.

Haha it does takes time to get the numbers right. It takes a while to overclock.
4.5 and 4.6 is near but really hard to get. Some cant get then without going over 1.42 which really need an custom WC. I was lucky to get 4.6 at 1.36v 4.8 at 1.38 and 5.0 like 1.41 or something like that. You should also stress test them to see if it crash or not. For me the best way is to play games really. Those extreme cpu test is great but what I found out is that even tho it failed those test (blue screen or crash/freeze) I was able to play hours on high demanded games. After overclocking. Fire up those games xD
When you have your graphic card. If your not scared. Flash your gtx 780ti bio My gtx 780s are running custom bio. Its currently at core/memory 1137/1502 and thats stock. Its currently sitting that at setting which is stock xD

5.0 is rather impressive Mu
At 4.5 I played battlefield 4 on full settings for a few hours without an issue, temps were great. I think it hit about 044.0 cpu temp after an hour and didnt go higher, its the only newish game I have
