As a precaution for my Hard Drive

I got a Maxtor Personal Storage 500GB Hard Drive , I have no idea where the fan is . I just wanted to know is it safe for the Hard Drive to be flat on the floor or does it have to stand up?

you sure there is a fan ?
if there’s a grill or air slots don’t lay it on top of them
other that that any position should be ok

yes it wont cause trouble if it stand flat on the floor
provided that it has enuff space for heat exchange.
