Any mac users used photoshop? editing host file question

when installing photoshop patch you need to edit the host files could this anyway harm my laptop? I’m new to macs.

If you look up what a hosts file does, you will see it cant possibly harm anything,
Unless you manually point your banks website to a phishing site then use the phishing site knowing you just pointed it to a malicious site.
