Question for jdownloader users

August 5th, 2016

I just found out about jdownloader(from this forum), and I’m in love with it. Since I’m currently a free RS user, this client is great since it waits the 15 minutes for me between downloads and all that good stuff.
Anyways, I”m getting pretty horrible speeds with jdownloader right now. My max download internet connection speed is about 360kb/s. But with jdownloader I usually get NOWHERE near that. There was one download that I got about 200kb/s most of the way through. But for most the downloads, I get maybe max 50kb/s.
Now, with DownThemAll, I usually get my max connection speed being a free account user. So I don’t know why I’m not getting my max with jdownloader.
So, at the end of this month I’m getting a three or six month Premium account. Will I get my max speeds with jdownloader as a Premium account user? Or is there a similar client to jdownloader that I should use where I’ll get my max speeds?
Thanks for any info.

would this be when your downloading parallel or single streams? Single streams are faster, since its a sole file that can use all the speeds

if your getting a premium account, might as well opt for a proper download manager like IDM or Flashget which has more functions as such. Jdownloader is just a manager for free users and doesnt really give full support for premium users.

Yeah, it was single streams. But I think I found the problem. I’m using Linux(Ubuntu specifically), and I was using Sun Java 5. Well once I updated to Sun Java 6(the latest), jdownloader updated itself. I have a whole new interface, and my speeds are much better. I’m getting 200kb/s all through the download. Which the jdownloader home page says the RS free speed is somewhere around 200kb/s. So I think I’m good until I get the premium account.
I didn’t know that jdownloader is really only good for free accounts. Since I’m on linux, IDM and flashget doesn’t run natively. So I have to run them through Wine, and they don’t seem to be running right. For some reason I can’t integrate IDM with my browser(like I could in Windows), and Flashget I’m not having any luck at all.
I installed Flashget(running through Wine), and installed Flashgot in Firefox. But…when I right-click a link in Firefox, and hit Flash Got Link, it doesn’t open in Flashget. How do you properly use Flashget?
Thank you for the response.
