Adobe after effects. Effects not showing.

Ok. I need help. Well my friend does. She lives 3 hours away so i cant be there to help her out. but a day ago i helped her install adobe ae cs5 for mac. I installed it with her so i took her step by step and its working fine. and i have the same copy. but some how. her drop down menu under “effects” has nothing in it. Just “Matte” “effect control” “last effect” “remove all”
anyone know whats the problem? weird cuz i have the same copy but some how mine is perfectly fine

it’s not reading the effects files from the folder.
there are a couple of reasons this could happen,
the most common reason is that the effects aren’t in the proper folder.
also if you have the effects in a folder, inside the proper folder,
you may have to remove them from that folder and move the actual files into the proper folder
